Who are The Dog Haven Carers?
They are professional and experienced dog lovers that have been carefully selected to work alongside The Dog Haven. Our carers have very good quality homes, safe gardens and lots of free time to dedicate to our wonderful companions. Because we want to give your dog the attention that he deserves we offer the unique service of only accepting one dog at the time. The only time we accept two dogs is if they are from the same household.

What about Insurance?
Our carers are fully insured and registered with the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters. This third party public liability insurance is tailored made for our home boarding/pet sitting services. The policy covers any situation whereby a third party holds you responsible for damage or injury (to themselves, their property or their pet) as a result of negligence.

How do I book my dog on a holiday?
We need to know about your dog’s requirements, habits, behavior and routine therefore, we ask you to complete The Dog Haven booking form so that we can choose the best family home for your dog. Once we have the completed booking form we can then send you our recommendation letter.  Our letter will outline our Carer’s address and phone number and the overall costs for your dog’s holiday including the deposit required to confirm your booking with us.

Who arranges the meeting with the Carer?
Once you have received our recommendation letter you can contact the Carer so that you can arrange a meeting at her home with your dog. This meeting will give you the opportunity to discuss with the Carer your dog in more detail.

What do I need to provide for my dog’s holiday?
We ask our clients to bring their dog’s food, bedding, special toy, chews, bowls, treats and lead.

Can I contact the Carer whilst on holidays?
Of course you can. Most of our Carers tend to send a text message to reassure the client that all is ok at home. You can also call the Carer’s home directly as long as this arrangement has been agreed prior to your departure.

Do you need to see proof of vaccinations?
The Carer will ask to see proof of vaccinations. The Dog Haven also insists that regular treatments such as de-worming and de-flea are up to date.

Will you exercise my dog whilst on holidays?
Yes. We will exercise your dog for at least one hour a day. Whilst in our care your dog will have plenty of socialization and fun because he will interact with other “canine friends.

In what situation will you contact the Emergency Contact?
We will contact the emergency contact if your dog has become unwell or had an accident /fight or caused any damage to person or property.

What if my dog becomes ill on holiday?
If your dog is not well while staying with one of our carers we will endeavor to take him to his regular vet if located near to the Carer. Alternatively, we will take him to a vet of our choice. Please note that if your pet is not insured the owner is liable for any veterinary expenses that might occur whilst your dog is in our care.

What is a Veterinarian release form?
This form will allow The Dog Haven Carer to take your dog to a reputable vet if traveling to your dog’s normal vet is not a possibility. A lot of veterinarian surgeries will not treat your dog without prior permission. The veterinarian release form must be signed at the Carer’s home on the day that you drop your dog for his holiday.

How do I pay the Carer?
The overall costs for your dog’s holiday will be clearly outlined in our recommendation letter. Payment to the Carer is due with clear funds, on the day that you drop your dog for his holiday.

How do I pay the deposit?
All deposits are due to The Dog Haven at the time that you make the booking or just after a successful meeting has taken place. Deposits can be paid online directly to The Dog Haven bank account. Alternatively, you can send The Dog Haven a cheque.

Do I get my deposit back if I cancel or change my booking?
Deposits will be refunded if you are within the timings clearly outlined in our cancellation policy. No monies will be refunded if your holiday is cut short or if you want to collect your dog earlier than originally booked.  If you want to extend your holiday the same daily rate will apply.
